Summer message from the District Grand Prefect.

Greetings to you all and I hope that this message finds you and your families and friends in good health. Summer is here and I have been watching swifts catching insects high in the air; they are one of my favourite of birds - so acrobatic - and I am constantly amazed that they never touch the ground – wonderful!

Allied Masonry in London continues to soar high and is strong and vibrant with all units securing candidates, some of which are doing very well indeed and this is excellent news.

We have had two full team visits so far, to Rumbelow and Londinium, which were great fun and I was grateful for such good support from the District Officers. We have one more planned, to Brigadier Galloway, on 14th October.

Elsewhere on the website can be found details of our visiting schedule and I remind everyone that they are welcome to join us on any occasion.

In a few weeks I shall be hosting a dinner for new members - that is those who have joined over the last year or so. It will be an ideal occasion for them to meet each other and to discuss our Order and our District. In July I shall meet with Council Secretaries to talk about our District administration and future plans and ideas. This is an annual event and they will feed back news and information to you all.

Our big plan for the year is our efforts to petition the Grand Master to consecrate a new Council in London. Plans are well advanced and we have a good number of Founders and a strong list of aspirant candidates. We hope to be allowed to use the name The Goose and Gridiron Council, which will demonstrate the ancient links with Craft Masonry. It will meet on Saturday mornings at MMH twice a year. A Consecration in London will be a superb occasion; please do come along and be part of a very interesting and important day for us.

The Grand AMD meeting this year is on Tuesday 25th October at Freemasons’ Hall and our District Meeting is on Saturday 19th November at Mark Masons’ Hall. Please support both; good numbers make a good meeting.

Our social lunches have proved very popular and we will make plans to hold another this autumn - full details will be circulated after the summer break.

Do not forget that our website holds details of all these events as well as full details of meetings and District news, and can be found at amdlondon.org

Enjoy the summer break and return refreshed and ready to enjoy another year of Allied Masonry!
All best wishes to you all and I look forward to seeing you at your Councils throughout the year.

Colin Woodcock
