Requiescet in pace - W. Bro. Richard Bradburn

The District Grand Prefect regrets to announce the passing of W.Bro. Richard Bradburn, DistGIG, who sadly died of a heart attack in Stoke Mandeville Hospital on Sunday 15 March.

Richard was a stalwart member of the District of London in general and the Guild of Freeman Council in particular. He will be sorely missed by all of us who knew him.

Colin's Autumn message

Well, the summer is over and we are heading into the wet and gloomy depths of autumn from where we will slide and skid into the icy grip of winter. However there is a ray of warmth and happiness on the horizon! Our wonderful Order has much to offer to brighten our lives, not only in the many meetings between now and Christmas but also some special events. The London AMD autumn social night will be on Thursday 7th November where over dinner we shall have a fascinating talk on the VC, and our own District AGM will be on Saturday 16th November - please attend and support if possible as it is always a good day out. For more on these and for information on a wide range of activities across the District, please visit our website where in particular you will also find information on a photo competition for all of you camera or smartphone buffs. I look forward to seeing you at your meetings or elsewhere across the District.

Best wishes to you all,

Colin

Photo Competition

The District Grand Prefect Colin Woodcock would like to announce a photo competition to run throughout the 2019-20 masonic season.  The theme of the competition is of course the Allied Masonic Degrees, and helpful ideas can be obtained from our District Photographer (examples below).

Our District Photographer will be the judge of the competition so he will not be taking part.  Colin Woodcock will be announcing and presenting the winner with a very special prize sometime after the last meeting of the season, therefore as the coveted title of AMD-London photographer of the year, the winner will no doubt be the toast of the District

Here are a few things to remember:
•    No photo in an open Lodge/Council
•    If you take photos of Brethren, please seek their permission and inform them that it may be used on the website and or social media
•    And lastly by entering the competition you give permission to the District and the order in general to use and publish your photos

A Series of Essays by Brian Price

This book contains a series of well researched short talks on the Allied Masonic Degrees. Ideal for performance in Councils to provide educational material on the Order in an easily-assimilated form.

Each chapter is presented as a stand-alone 'delivery version' and is complete in itself. Making it ideal to read in a meeting where there is no ceremony to be performed or for study at home.

Some chapters also contain detailed material in the form of annexes, which contain more extensive supporting detail that could facilitate further investigation.

In the final part there are a number of orations delivered at the consecration of Allied Councils which illustrate different interpretations of the Order by the Consecrating Grand Chaplains.

Extensive footnotes are included where appropriate to assist in answering questions, thorough references, a select bibliography and an index are also provided to assist brethren who wish to carry out their own research into the Allied Order.
