DGP Visits Metropolitan 'A'

On Wednesday 17th November, the District Grand Prefect R.W. Bro. Colin Woodcock, accompanied by a delegation, visited the meeting of Metropolitan "A" Council .

He witnessed some flawless ritual by W. Bro. Roger Keys. Firstly, conducting the degree of St. Lawrence the Martyr introducing Bro. Paul Hicks and Bro. Laurence Sams as new members to the Order and indeed to the AMD District of London. Roger then continued to perform the installation ceremony to equally high standard installing W. Bro. Terry Worrall into the Chair of St. Lawrence.

The members and visitors then retired to the third floor for a most splendid and convivial festive board. When we toasted to our next merry meeting the consensus was that the evening was what we have only come to expect from the world's oldest AMD council.

AMD Awareness Evening

A splendid introduction to the Allied Masonic Degrees and the District of London at our Zoom AMD Awareness Evening.

The event was hosted by our District Grand Prefect R.W. Bro. Colin Woodcock, and attendees were treated to a superb summary of our 5 degrees by Bro. Matthew Christmas; W. Bro. Scott Cargill gave a splendid overview of our Councils and the Regalia and Bro. Steve Roberts gave an insight into how we engage with our membership.

The cherry on top was, of course, having our Grand Master M.W. Bro. Thomas F. Jackson joining us for the event.

The evening concluded with a Q&A session with some interesting questions from our, hopefully, prospective candidates.

Londinium No.47 - It's good to be back!

Londinium are back.

Tuesday 18th May 2021 saw the first meeting of a London Council since the lifting of restrictions. 12 Members and guests of Londinium Council No.47 assembled at Mark Masons' Hall to install W. Bro. Stephen Schofield into the chair of St. Lawrence.

What a joy it was, travelling into London, walking up Pall Mall, walking into reception at MMH and greeting the receptionist as if he was some long lost brother, climbing the stairs to the Warwickshire room and finally seeing brethren (albeit with masks on) who we had only seen via zoom meetings during this blip in our masonic lives.

The Council was opened but sadly the first order of business was to remember W. Bro. Mick Randall, who sadly passed away in June 2020. W. Bro. Ian Ness gave the eulogy.

Grand Council Certificates were then presented in fine manner by our District Grand Secretary W. Bro. Scott Cargill, to three of the brethren.

Then it was onto the main event.

W. Bro. Colin Howard as always doing a splendid job of installing W. Bro. Stephen Schofield for the first time as Master in an AMD Council.

The rest of the formalities over the new Master closed the Council and we retired to partake of a wonderful socially distanced meal.

Only 10 dining on 2 tables but the chat and laughter was great to hear. As I said at the start it was a joy to be there from start to finish.
Let us hope that our meetings may now long continue without further interruption.
